With the Dhyana Buddha, both hands rest on the lap (Dhyana Mudra). The back of the right hand rests on the palm of the left hand. Often the thumbs touch each other and thus form the mystical triangle. This is the meditation mudra, a symbol of wisdom. Buddha took this stance during his last meditation under the Bodhi tree when he attained enlightenment.
