In Dhyana Buddha, both hands rest on the lap(Dhyana Mudra). The back of the right hand rests on the palm of the left hand. The thumbs often touch, forming the mystical triangle. This is the meditation mudra, a symbol of wisdom. Buddha assumed this posture during his last meditation under the Bodhi tree when he attained enlightenment.
