It is made from locally sourced, sustainable aromatic cedar and features cabochons inlaid with turquoise that add to the decorative beauty while enhancing the functional art quality of the instrument.

Aromatic Cedar has a color range from ginger orange to burgundy red, it can also show off sapwood, the yellow wood color also present in Aromatic Cedar.

The Red Tail Hawk has a moderately low mid-range voice, and its length of approximately 21 inches (54 cm) makes it a very accessible flute for most hand sizes. This flute is tuned in the key of "g" minor, but can also be played in the relative diatonic major scale in the key of "A♯"/"B♭".
