In Japan, wind chimes have been part of summer culture for centuries. Their delicate sound is perceived as soothing and is said to convey a feeling of freshness on warm, humid days.
The bells are cast and then carefully finished by hand. In this way, each piece develops its own pure sound character. The interplay between the gentle tone of the gold-colored brass ball and the cream-colored paper moving in the wind creates a moment of calm - almost like a little meditative break in everyday life.
The Nousaku foundry was founded in Takaoka in 1916 and is now run by the fourth generation. Objects made of brass and bronze have always been created there using traditional sand casting techniques. The focus is on both the craftsmanship heritage and the natural properties of the materials. Each product is finished by hand and expresses the individual beauty of the metal.
