Double flute Kestrel high D

The double Kestrel Signature flute in the key of high D minor is handcrafted from aromatic cedar wood. This first-class tonewood produces an ideal tonal character that harmoniously combines the clarity of the high notes with the warm fullness of the low notes.

The decorations of the Kestrel flute are inlaid with turquoise cabochons. The body of the flute is carefully shaped, polished and finished with several layers of non-toxic tung oil.

The double flute has two mouthpieces so that you can easily switch between playing as a double flute and as a single flute. The unique A-frame construction contributes to a good fullness of sound and volume.

Double flutes are just as easy to play as single flutes; they just need a little more breath. One flute plays the melody on the side with the finger holes, while the other flute (without finger holes) produces the drone. This can play both the low and high octave of the respective key and makes the music sound fascinatingly as if two people are playing at the same time.

The flutes in the High Spirits Signature Series use a unique air conduction system that offers exceptional response and precise playing control. It also provides excellent sound amplification and makes the flutes suitable for a wide range of musical styles.

This flute is tuned to D minor and can also be played in the parallel major scale, i.e. F major.

The flute is 14.75 inches (37.5 cm) long, has an inner diameter of 5/8 inch (1.59 cm) and measures 7 inches (18 cm) in width at the widest point of the A-frame.
