The ghatam is an earthenware vessel instrument with an opening and a rounded rim. Our model has a padded stand ring, which ensures a secure stand and additionally supports the sound.

The instrument produces deep, powerful basses as well as bright sounds rich in overtones. The ghatam is played with the flat of the hand on the opening and with the fingers on the sides of the sound body, creating a wide variety of rhythmic timbres.

The ghatam is a very popular percussion instrument in the Indian music tradition.
