The song harp is a plucked instrument with 17 strings in diatonic tuning. It is a table or lap harp on which you can place prefabricated sheet music under the strings. If you follow the course of the notes and pluck the strings above them, you can play simple songs effortlessly, similar to the zither, which had sheet music to put underneath, or like the fiddle harp.
There are 15 ready-made, easy-to-play children's and folk songs for the song harp that everyone knows. These can of course be extended as required by writing the notes yourself on a blank sheet of music.
This instrument is a very uncomplicated way of learning to play from sheet music. It helps to reduce the fear of sheet music. If you remove the sheet music, you can play freely on this instrument. Due to the diatonic tuning, no discordant notes can occur.
However, this instrument can be used just as well for free improvisation if you play without sheet music, similar to the lyre or the koto.
I developed the song harp especially for kindergarten and primary schools. It is solidly constructed, extremely stable and has a handy size.
