Compare and play different instruments
in a relaxed atmosphere with us in our store in Zofingen and take the right instrument home with you immediately - without any waiting time.
Wind instruments differ in their playing style primarily by the so-called embouchure, i.e. the way in which the air is blown into the instrument. Whereas in woodwind instruments the air is either directed through a slit onto a cutting edge (recorder, transverse flute) or a single or double reed is set in vibration (clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, oboe), in brass instruments (trumpet, horn, trombone, tuba) the column of air is blown through a funnel-shaped cup mouthpiece. In woodwind instruments, the pitch is produced by covering the tone holes directly with the fingers or with the help of keys; in brass instruments, the pitch is produced primarily by the elastic tension of the lips and, if necessary, with the help of valves and slides.
In our online store, wind instruments can be divided into two subgroups - woodwinds and bamboo and brass. However, it is not always the material from which the instrument is made, but whether the sound is produced via an air or reed or via a metal mouthpiece in the form of a funnel that determines which group it belongs to. What they all have in common, of course, is that the sound is produced via the outflowing air.
